From Wonder Woman 303 to 307 the Huntress found herself in one cliffhanger after another. It all started when a criminal inventor (Pat Pending) she had captured died in police custody soon afterwards. People who opposed Gotham's tolerance for vigilantes seized on this as a example of how unnecessary force had caused Pending's death. Smelling a rat Helena followed Pending's body and the doctor who had certified his death to a funeral home run by a man appropriately known as The Undertaker. Helena arrived to see the doctor revive Pending from a deathlike trance and Pending told the Undertaker where half his loot was buried. The other half was to be turned over when Pending was smuggled out of the country. The doctor gave Pending an injection to put him back into a trance except that this time it really was fatal. The Doctor, Undertaker and a third man known as the Professor had decide that smuggling crooks out of the country was too risky and half the loot was plenty. So once they had the first installment they'd kill their clients as who'd come looking for dead men? The Huntress charged in to arrest them for murder and prove she wasn't responsible for Pending's death. Unfortunately she had hadn't counted on the Doctor's sidekick, a hulking psycho named Milo. As you saw on the last page she awoke at the end on Wonder Woman #303 in definite peril. A Situation she was still facing in Wonder Woman #304 (June 1983). The Perils of Helena
Before she could make a clean escape the ghoulish crew returned with their latest victim. During the struggle the cremetorium overheated and exploded taking out both the funeral home and its owner. Unfortunately Helena assumed Mio and the Professor had also perished but when she paused to radio for fire trucks she recieved a very unpleasant surprise after Milo crept up behind her.
Dragged off to Arkhm Asylum by Doctor Tarr and Milo the Huntress soon find out why the title of her story in Wonder Woman #305 (July 1983) was "Straitjacket"!
Not a sentiment you want to hear from the man who's just injected who knows what into your bloodstream. To make matters worse the gas keeping the violent ward patients subdued had just run out and they wanted revenge and weren't too choosy about their victims. As Helena was about to find out!
